A husband, spurned and unrepentant, has stepped forward, openly admitting to setting fire to a Virginia lawmaker. The accusations? A tangled affair with his wife, Mary Alice, despite her having initiated divorce proceedings weeks prior to this brazen act.
We now understand the motivations behind Shotsie Michael Buck-Hayes‘ dramatic actions, as a Danville police investigator unravelled the details during a preliminary hearing months following his arrest.
Buck-Hayes unambiguously confessed to law enforcement that he procured gasoline with intentions of harming Danville City Council member Lee Vogler, ultimately using a lighter to ignite the situation.
In the courtroom, three witnesses testified, including an employee of Showcase Magazine, who recounted an incident where Buck-Hayes burst in with a bucket, pursued Vogler, and drenched him in gasoline while the latter was engaged in his duties as a sales director.
Vogler’s spouse, Blair, revealed in court that he incurred second and third-degree burns covering 60% of his body, in addition to experiencing burn shock, septic shock, and respiratory complications from smoke inhalation.
Since the incident, he has remained hospitalized, continuing to battle through a treacherous recovery process.
Buck-Hayes now faces serious charges, including attempted first-degree murder and aggravated malicious wounding.
