As Sean Combs’ sentencing approaches on October 3, his mother, Janice, expressed her regrets about her son’s past decisions.

In a heartfelt letter acquired by E! News, she reflected, “Unfortunately, my son has made some terrible mistakes in his life, which I know he recognizes. I will never excuse any wrongdoing committed by Sean. I’ve always been very strict with him growing up.”

The 85-year-old implored the judge for compassion, stating, “I appeal to the kindness of your heart to allow my son to be able to sit at a dinner table with his family, to raise his children, and instill in them the need to be respectful, get an education, and just be God’s children with love in their hearts.”

Combs’ Kids Need Their Dad

Janice underscored the necessity of their father in the lives of Combs’ children—Quincy (34), King (27), and twins Jessie and D’lila (18)—especially following the death of their mother, Kim Porter, in 2018.

“I beg your honor to let him help them through the healing processes from the loss of their mother,” she pleaded. “They have suffered pain and sleepless nights since Sean’s incarceration.”

She also shared her own health struggles in her letter, mentioning her deteriorating condition after undergoing two brain surgeries and living with diabetes. “I don’t know how much longer I will be around, but I would love to be able to see him and his children together again,” she concluded.

Despite being acquitted of sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy charges in July, Combs was found guilty of two counts related to transportation to engage in prostitution, each potentially resulting in a 10-year sentence.

As he awaits sentencing, the 55-year-old has overwhelmed the court with letters from friends and family vouching for him. In a personal 182-page sentencing memo he submitted recently, Combs appealed for a term no longer than 14 months, which he argues is the time he has already spent in jail.

His defense team has also highlighted the allegedly “inhumane” conditions at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, where reports indicate that food has been found with maggots and he has faced violence, without having breathed fresh air for almost 13 months.

Clean and Sober

Combs’ attorneys noted that he is reportedly “sober for the first time in 25 years” and has maintained an “incident-free record” in prison.

In addition, he has actively contributed to the inmate community by developing an educational program centered on business management and entrepreneurship. His defense concluded that Combs has already faced adequate punishment.

“In the past two years, Mr. Combs’s career and reputation have been destroyed,” his lawyers asserted in the document. “He has spent over a year incarcerated in one of the most notorious jails in America—yet has made the most of that punishment.”
