Sean “Diddy” Combs was sentenced to just under four years in prison for his recent criminal activities, as reported on Friday, yet he is still grappling with a significant number of lawsuits alleging sexual misconduct and other alarming behaviors. Read more here.

With nearly 70 ongoing civil lawsuits lined up against him, the pressure is mounting. Experts suggest that Combs is already facing substantial legal expenses in his federal sex-crimes case, which could surpass $15 million. Learn more about his legal troubles.

Legal experts are divided on whether Combs will choose to aggressively contest these lawsuits or tap into his dwindling fortune, estimated at around $400 million, to swiftly settle with his numerous accusers.

Attorney Nicole Brenecki expressed that it wouldn’t be surprising if Combs decided to settle many claims quickly to alleviate the ongoing issues, as the financial repercussions may not be significant in the grand scheme.

Conversely, celebrity attorney Bradford Cohen feels the cases he reviewed seem weak, suggesting that Combs should push back against the accusers.

Cohen noted, “Settling now doesn’t make sense; it would only encourage more claims as others see they might get similar treatment.”

David Setlzer, a former prosecutor in Miami, emphasized that Combs, having been acquitted of several felonies, may emerge from this situation stronger. “He’s timing how much to spend and I’m sure his legal team isn’t inexpensive,” he remarked.

Combs’ legal battles began in late 2023 when his ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura filed a lawsuit alleging rape and abuse, which was settled in less than 24 hours for an impressive $20 million, a sum disclosed by Ventura during her testimony against Combs in his subsequent criminal trial. According to insiders, the swift settlement has seemingly prompted a barrage of additional lawsuits, as many now perceive opportunity in Combs’ situation. “Once word spread of the settlement, it was like blood in the water,” Cohen remarked, indicating a surge in new claims.

Cohen, who has represented famous figures including Drake and Lil Wayne, hinted that Combs could potentially take inspiration from Cardi B, who declined to settle a civil assault case and won at trial. “Cardi B made a smart move under those circumstances,” he commented.

Despite potentially incurring higher expenses than any quick settlement would involve, Cohen noted that it sent a clear message: “Don’t mess with me.”

“When you look at most of the lawsuits facing Combs, you’ll find many lack substantial evidence,” he remarked, alluding to the aged accusations and limited physical proof presented in some cases.

While many of Jones’ claims have been dismissed, those pertaining to sexual assault are still active. Other lawsuits have also been dismissed for not allowing anonymity for the plaintiffs.

One particularly alarming accusation involving Combs and Jay-Z was filed regarding a tragic incident from years prior but has recently been dismissed by the accuser, with the legal representative opting to exit the case. Tony Buzbee, representing several of Combs’ accusers, has not issued a statement regarding these developments.
