Secret Service Investigates Agent’s Attempt to Smuggle Spouse on Trump’s Scotland Trip

The U.S. Secret Service has initiated an inquiry following an incident involving a trainee agent who attempted to bring his wife along on a flight during President Trump’s visit to Scotland.

President Trump arrived in Turnberry, Scotland on Friday, marking the beginning of a five-day diplomatic excursion to the UK.

As reported by RealClearPolitics, the agent in question, who is still in the early stages of his career, sought to include his spouse, an employee of the Air Force, on the mission to Scotland. This unconventional request raised eyebrows and necessitated a deeper investigation.

In a twist of fate, the agent reportedly arranged for his wife to travel to Maryland, where she received an official Secret Service briefing before being transported to Joint Base Andrews. However, her journey was cut short when she was ultimately instructed to leave the premises, according to RCP.

“The agent in question is a Phase 1 trainee, who has been documented for misconduct multiple times during his training at the Rowley Training Center,” noted Susan Crabtree, a reporter for RealClearPolitics. “Agents in this preliminary phase can face termination if they fail to meet the established standards.”

In response to these developments, Secret Service spokesman Anthony Guglielmi issued a statement to RealClearPolitics, clarifying the situation:

“The U.S. Secret Service is conducting a personnel investigation after an employee attempted to invite his spouse—a member of the United States Air Force—aboard a mission support flight. This aircraft, operated by the U.S. Air Force, was designated for transporting personnel and equipment. Before the overseas departure, the employee was explicitly informed by supervisors that such actions were prohibited, resulting in the spouse being barred from boarding. Importantly, no Secret Service protectees were on board, and there was no disruption to our overseas protective operations.”
