As your Secretary of Health and Human Services, I had the opportunity today to tour the operations room of the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR), a vital subagency within our department.
Addressing the Issue of Missing Children
Can we substantiate claims of force, fraud, or coercion in human trafficking cases? The ORR has been unwavering in its mission to locate the staggering 291,000 children who went missing during the Biden administrationâspecifically, the unaccompanied minors who entered the United States via the Mexican border.
Protecting our children is our most sacred responsibility. I extend my gratitude to all of you for your dedication, and may divine blessings be upon you.
The Crisis of Unaccompanied Minors
During the Biden administration, over 291,000 unaccompanied minors have crossed the southern U.S. border. Alarmingly, many of these children were released to sponsors without adequate follow-up, raising significant concerns about their safety and whereabouts. The ORR is actively engaged in the daunting task of locating these missing minors, amidst escalating fears that some may have fallen prey to human trafficking, exploitation in labor, or abandonment.
The initiative involves meticulous record reviews, outreach to sponsors, and collaboration with various federal entities to safeguard the well-being of these children. Detractors of the Biden administration argue that systemic failures in oversight have contributed to this crisis, while officials from the current Trump administration assert their commitment to rectify these oversights and prioritize the protection of vulnerable children. This troubling scenario represents not only a humanitarian crisis but also a significant security concern, casting shadows on the efficacy of the Biden administration’s immigration policies.
