Senator John Fetterman (D-Pa.) has called for Israel to take action against Iran’s new supreme leader, Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei, as he has yet to make a public appearance following his appointment by the Assembly of Experts. Fetterman suggested that Israel should target Khamenei and other members of the Iranian leadership.
Fetterman expressed his belief that the world is better off without Khamenei’s father, the late Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, and implied that the same would apply to his successor. He also speculated that Khamenei may be seriously injured or in hiding due to his absence from public view.
Despite calls for negotiation by President Trump, Iran rejected the offer, leading to escalating tensions between the two nations. The supreme leader holds significant power in Iran’s government and military, with final authority over state affairs.
While Trump has criticized Khamenei and warned against his leadership, thousands in Iran have rallied in support of the new supreme leader. However, doubts remain about Khamenei’s condition and public support.
Khosro Isfahani, a researcher, suggested that Khamenei lacks charisma and may have been pressured into his new role by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. The uncertainty surrounding Khamenei’s status has led to speculation about his whereabouts and well-being.
