Published
Fans of the new Netflix documentary about notorious serial killer Aileen Wuornos now have a unique opportunity to own a piece of true crime history as her personal items are set to go up for auction.
From the signed L.A. Gear sneakers she wore when she was arrested, to the crucifix necklace she donned during her execution, these items will be available for sale on the True Crime Collective website this week.
Aileen Wuornos gained notoriety for the murders of 6 men between 1989 and 1990, where she shot them at point-blank range. Her life was depicted in the 2003 biopic “Monster” starring Charlize Theron, as well as the new Netflix documentary “Aileen: Queen of the Serial Killers.” Wuornos was convicted and ultimately sentenced to death for her crimes, and she was executed by lethal injection in Florida in October 2002.
Among the items up for auction are the county prison robe she received shortly after her arrest, the flip-flops she wore while on death watch and during her final walk to the death chamber, and her personal Bible which contains hundreds of handwritten notes and highlights.

These items were previously in the possession of Aileen’s best friend, Dawn Botkins. The collection includes 40 to 60 handwritten letters that Aileen sent to Dawn, providing insight into their relationship. This collection is believed to be the largest of original items belonging to Aileen Wuornos.
