The stage is set for the final showdown between Wellington and Bay of Plenty at the Cake Tin on Saturday at 3.05pm. This nostalgic kickoff time harks back to the traditional days of rugby when the big game was always played at 3pm on a Saturday.
Wellington has been a standout team this season, with their only slip-up being against Counties. They will be looking to secure victory in front of their home crowd after a hard-fought win over Waikato.
Bay of Plenty, on the other hand, surprised everyone with a comfortable victory over Canterbury in the semifinals. The South Island team seemed out of sorts and lacked their usual spark without their All Blacks players.
In the picking competition, Shane from GWD’s emerged victorious for the second year in a row, with Jo from Deep South Glass coming in a close second. Both have placed their bets on Wellington to win the final.
As for the final match, Bay of Plenty will be riding high on their recent success and will be a tough opponent for Wellington. However, if Du’Plessis Kirifi plays for Wellington, they have a strong chance of emerging victorious.
Good luck to all the tipsters and enjoy the summer!
