The attempted hit on an Indiana judge and his wife has shocked the community, with officials revealing that it was orchestrated by a motorcycle gang in an effort to derail an upcoming trial. The incident, which occurred on January 18, targeted Judge Steven Meyer and his wife, Kim, who thankfully survived the attack.

According to LaFayette Police Chief Scott Galloway, the shooting was not just an assault on two individuals, but an attack on the very foundation of the rule of law. The plot was allegedly aimed at protecting Thomas Gregory Moss, a high-ranking member of the Detroit-based Phantom MC motorcycle club with ties to the Vice Lords street gang. Moss was scheduled to testify before Judge Meyer on January 20, just two days after the botched hit.

The twisted scheme began with Amanda Milsap approaching a witness in Moss’ domestic abuse case, offering a bribe of $10,000 from the Vice Lords to prevent her from testifying against him. The witness refused the bribe, leading to further actions by the gang members involved.

Raylen Ferguson, an affiliate of the Vice Lords, along with his girlfriend Zenada Greer, visited the Meyers’ home on January 16 under the guise of a food delivery. Two days later, Ferguson returned wearing a mask and carrying a shotgun purchased by another Phantom MC member, Blake Smith. Knocking on the Meyers’ door, Ferguson claimed he was looking for their dog before opening fire and injuring both Judge Meyer and his wife.

Following the shooting, police launched a massive search operation that culminated in the synchronized arrests of five suspects. Bodycam footage released by authorities captured the arrests of Ferguson, Moss, and Smith, each facing charges of attempted murder, conspiracy to commit murder, battery, and intimidation.

Ferguson was apprehended during a traffic stop in Brookson, Moss was taken into custody at his home in Tippecanoe County, and Smith was arrested after police used a mechanical battering ram to enter his residence in Dayton, Indiana.

Additional charges were brought against Milsap for bribery and obstruction, and Greer for aiding a criminal and obstruction. The arrests mark a significant breakthrough in the case, shedding light on the dangerous motivations behind the attack on Judge Meyer and his wife.

As the investigation continues, the community remains on edge, grappling with the unsettling reality of organized crime infiltrating the judicial system. The swift action taken by law enforcement agencies in apprehending the suspects serves as a testament to their commitment to upholding justice and safeguarding the rule of law.
