Sia’s custody battle with ex-husband Daniel Bernard has taken a disturbing turn, with Bernard filing new legal documents in an attempt to gain sole custody of their one-year-old son, Somersault Wonder Bernard. In the filing, Bernard alleges that Sia poses a “serious and immediate danger” to their child, citing substance abuse and addiction issues.
According to Bernard, he is the only safe and reliable parent for their son, emphasizing his career as a doctor, his youth, health, and lack of criminal history or addiction problems. He is requesting that Sia undergo random drug testing and that her visits with Somersault be limited to 2 hours, 3 times a week, under professional monitoring.
In response, Sia has defended herself, stating that Bernard’s visits with their son have already been monitored due to a child pornography investigation. She argues that she has been the primary caregiver for their son since their separation and that Bernard’s visits have been restricted and monitored following the investigation.
Bernard has also accused Sia of failing to disclose a hospitalization and positive drug test without a medical explanation. In addition to seeking sole custody, he is asking for monthly child support of $77,245 and spousal support of over $250,000 per month, claiming that Sia has cut off funding for their joint company, Modern Medicine.
Sia has refuted Bernard’s claims, stating that she has been sober for over six months and has agreed to drug testing for both herself and Bernard. She acknowledges her past struggles with substance abuse but emphasizes that her sobriety has been a key aspect of her life for many years.
The singer has expressed concerns about her son spending time alone with Bernard, despite the closure of the child pornography investigation. She is open to additional custodial time for Bernard, as long as a qualified caretaker is present, but is adamant about maintaining the current custody agreement.
Overall, the custody battle between Sia and Bernard continues to escalate, with both parties making serious allegations against each other. The future of their son’s custody remains uncertain as the legal proceedings unfold.
