The disturbing case of Jeffrey Zizz, the handyman accused of torturing an 82-year-old woman to death with a nail gun, has shocked the community. Zizz, who has a dark past including molesting his own daughters while working as a pastor, is now facing murder charges in connection with the brutal death of Marcia Norman.
Zizz, a convicted child molester, was caught hovering over Norman’s bed in the middle of the night months before her murder. He admitted to police that he had rubbed her shoulder while she slept, indicating a pattern of disturbing behavior. His past offenses include molesting his three daughters, two teenagers, and one pre-teen, while serving as a pastor at a church near Olympia. He faced multiple charges, including first-degree incest and rape of a child, but only served 11 months in jail after pleading guilty to three of the charges.
After his release, Zizz began working as a handyman for Norman, who vanished shortly after having dinner with him. Her body was later found buried under a shed in Olympia, encased in concrete. The coroner’s report revealed that she had been tortured for hours with a nail gun before her death.
Detectives discovered a five-page letter in Zizz’s house detailing a plan to burglarize and sexually assault a woman, although there was no evidence of sexual assault in Norman’s case. Despite his disturbing history and the violent nature of the crime, Zizz was released on parole and was only arrested after crashing a stolen truck in Montana.
Thurston County Sheriff Derek Sanders expressed frustration over the release of dangerous individuals like Zizz back into the community. Zizz is currently being held without bail on suspicion of murder and other charges, as the investigation into Norman’s death continues.
The tragic case highlights the importance of monitoring and treating individuals with a history of violent and predatory behavior to prevent further harm to innocent victims. The community is left grappling with the senseless loss of a beloved grandmother and the disturbing actions of a man with a troubled past.
