A horrifying incident unfolded on the Chicago Transit Authority’s Blue Line, where a maniac recorded himself fatally stabbing a sleeping train passenger. The victim, 37-year-old Dominique Pollion, was attacked by 40-year-old Demetrius Thurman in the early hours of the morning. Thurman approached Pollion with a knife in hand and his phone recording, capturing the gruesome act.

Pollion woke up screaming as Thurman stabbed him in the chest and abdomen. The assailant even turned his camera into selfie mode as Pollion collapsed from his injuries. Thurman then fled the scene, leaving Pollion in critical condition. Despite a passenger alerting security at the Clark/Lake station, it was initially unclear that Pollion had been stabbed due to the layers of clothing he was wearing.

Pollion was rushed to Northwestern Memorial Hospital but tragically succumbed to his wounds. The entire incident was captured on CCTV surveillance footage, leading to Thurman’s identification through facial recognition technology. He was arrested the following day still wearing the same clothes he had on during the attack.

Police seized Thurman’s cellphone and discovered the disturbing footage of the stabbing. Thurman, who reportedly suffers from mental health issues according to his attorney, has been charged with first-degree murder and is currently held without bond at the Cook County jail.

This chilling incident comes just two months after another brutal attack on the same Blue Line. Back in November, 26-year-old Bethany MaGee was set on fire by Lawrence Reed, a repeat offender with a long criminal record. Reed doused MaGee with gasoline and set her ablaze while she was on the train. Despite her horrific injuries, MaGee managed to escape the train at the Clark/Lake station, where she was aided by bystanders.

MaGee suffered severe burns on over 60% of her body and remains in critical condition. Reed, who yelled “Burn alive, bitch” during his arrest, faces federal terrorism charges with a potential life sentence. The back-to-back incidents highlight the pressing safety concerns on Chicago’s public transit system.

In response to the escalating violence, the CTA has announced increased security measures, including the deployment of more police officers and security guards. The Trump administration has also issued a deadline for the agency to enhance safety protocols or risk losing federal funding. The community is left reeling from these senseless acts of violence, calling for greater vigilance and protection for passengers on public transportation.
