Yuki Tsunoda is currently facing mounting pressure and scrutiny as a result of his disappointing performances since joining the Red Bull team. The Japanese driver recently qualified last for the Spanish Grand Prix, prompting team principal Christian Horner to provide insight into his future with the team.

Tsunoda, who replaced Liam Lawson early in the 2025 season, has struggled to deliver strong results, with three non-point-scoring finishes in six races. In contrast, Racing Bulls rookie Isack Hadjar has been a standout performer this season, highlighting the disparity in performance between the two drivers.

When asked about Tsunoda’s future with the team, Horner acknowledged the challenges of being Max Verstappen’s teammate and emphasized the need for continued improvement if Tsunoda wants to secure his place for the following year.

With his best result so far being a ninth-place finish at the Bahrain Grand Prix, Tsunoda faces the possibility of losing his seat if he fails to turn his performance around. The 25-year-old will need to focus on improving his results, starting with the Spanish Grand Prix where he qualified at the back of the grid.

Following his disappointing qualifying session, Tsunoda expressed his frustration with his lack of pace compared to Verstappen and the car’s poor performance during long runs. Despite using multiple sets of tires, he struggled to improve his lap times and acknowledged the challenges ahead for the race.

Looking ahead, Tsunoda will need to work on improving his performance and consistency if he hopes to secure his future with the Red Bull team. With pressure mounting and competition from talented drivers like Hadjar, the Japanese driver faces a crucial period in his Formula 1 career.

In conclusion, Tsunoda’s struggles highlight the competitive nature of Formula 1 and the importance of delivering consistent results to secure a place in a top team like Red Bull. As he prepares for the Spanish Grand Prix and future races, all eyes will be on Tsunoda to see if he can rise to the challenge and prove his worth on the track.
