Silver prices today, Monday, June 29, 2026: Silver prices trending lower

Silver (SI=F) September futures began trading at $59.81 per ounce on Monday, July 27, 2026, marking a 1.5% increase from the previous day’s closing price. By 8:41 a.m. ET, the price of silver had stabilized at $59.10. This morning’s price surge can be attributed to the temporary suspension of U.S. airstrikes over the weekend, as the country aims to kickstart peace negotiations. Consequently, silver prices have seen an upward trend for the first time since May, showing improvements over the past day, week, month, and year.

While the resumption of peace talks typically leads to positive fluctuations in silver prices, sustained growth will depend on long-term peace and the resumption of pre-war oil exports through the Strait of Hormuz. The current projection by the CME Group’s FedWatch tool indicates a 66.3% likelihood that the Federal Reserve will maintain interest rates following its two-day meeting ending on Wednesday. It is essential to note that higher interest rates usually result in lower silver prices, as the precious metal does not generate interest.

The opening price of silver futures on July 27, 2026, was 1.5% higher than the previous day’s closing price. A week ago, silver prices had risen by 7.5%, while a month ago, the increase was 1.0%. Comparatively, a year ago, silver prices had surged by 53.6%. The last time such positive trends were observed was in May 2026 when silver’s year-over-year growth reached 173.3% on May 14. For those interested in tracking silver prices, Yahoo Finance provides 24/7 monitoring services.

For individuals looking to invest in the silver market, there are various options available. One approach is to purchase physical silver in the form of bullion bars or government-minted coins, granting direct ownership of the metal without involving any intermediaries. However, investors must consider factors like storage, security, and potential insurance costs, as well as the premium charged by dealers above the spot price.

Alternatively, investors can opt for Silver exchange-traded funds (ETFs) that trade on stock exchanges like individual stocks. Some ETFs offer fractional ownership of physical silver, while others invest in silver mining companies. ETFs are considered a convenient and liquid way to gain exposure to silver without worrying about storage or insurance. However, investors should be aware of potential tax implications, as some silver funds may be taxed at higher rates as collectibles.

To further explore investment opportunities in the silver industry, individuals can utilize the Yahoo Finance Screener to identify the top-performing companies in the sector. By creating custom screeners with over 150 screening criteria, investors can make informed decisions based on their specific preferences and investment goals. Whether tracking the price of silver or exploring investment options, Yahoo Finance offers comprehensive coverage and resources for individuals interested in the silver market.
