On Wednesday, Jan. 7, a group of skiers made a tragic discovery at Keystone Resort. According to a Facebook post from the Summit County Sheriff’s Office, they found a man unresponsive on The Grizz, a single-black run in the resort’s Outback area.
The skiers immediately called for help and started CPR on the 59-year-old male guest. Keystone Ski Patrol arrived on the scene and continued life-saving efforts before transferring the skier to a helicopter landing zone. From there, a Flight for Life helicopter transported him to CommonSpirit St. Anthony Summit Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
The man was wearing a helmet at the time of the incident, as stated in the Sheriff’s Office post. The investigation is still ongoing, and no further details will be provided at this time.
