CHICAGO — Winter is making its presence known as a group of burglars targeted the Canada Goose store on the iconic Magnificent Mile overnight.

According to Chicago police, four individuals smashed the window of the store located in the 800 block of North Michigan Avenue around 2:19 a.m. The suspects swiftly gathered merchandise before fleeing the scene in a black Kia SUV.

An eyewitness could only provide a description of the suspects as individuals wearing black hoodies.

This is not the first time the Canada Goose store has been the victim of theft, with previous incidents including a similar break-in in January 2023. In recent years, as the brand’s popularity has surged, there have been reports of armed individuals robbing pedestrians of their Canada Goose coats on the streets of Chicago. These stolen items are often sold online or on the streets at discounted prices.

CWBChicago was founded in 2013 by a group of residents from Wrigleyville and Boystown who were dissatisfied with the inaccurate information being shared at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings. Since then, our coverage area has expanded to include neighborhoods like Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side areas. Our core mission remains the same: to deliver original public safety reporting with in-depth context and accuracy that surpasses mainstream media outlets.
