Colorado 67 was temporarily closed on Friday afternoon due to smoke from a small wildfire burning near Dotts Park in Douglas County, according to fire officials.
The Dotts fire ignited near Dotts Park, located north of Deckers, around 10:42 a.m., as reported by the Elk Creek Fire Department on Facebook.
By 11:27 a.m., firefighters had shut down Colorado 67 due to the smoke from the fire.
With 20 mph winds fueling the flames through grass and brush upon their arrival, crews are currently working on containing the 3-acre fire’s perimeter. However, the interior continues to burn due to the windy conditions, officials stated just after noon.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
This is an ongoing situation and will be updated as more information becomes available.
