Weekend Update Takes Shots at Hollywood Heavy Hitters
On the latest episode of “Weekend Update,” hosts Michael Che and Colin Jost didn’t hold back when it came to poking fun at some of Hollywood’s biggest names, including Oscar winner Daniel Day-Lewis and rapper Diddy.
Che didn’t hesitate to take aim at rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs, who has recently faced accusations of sex trafficking and sexual assault. Che quipped, “It was reported that the U.S. added 245,000 new jobs. Unfortunately, they were all ‘Diddy accuser.’”
Adding fuel to the fire, Che mentioned that Diddy’s sex trafficking case has been assigned to a new judge, jokingly speculating, “Diddy hopes is cool with rapes.” Jost joined in on the fun by mentioning an alleged invite from Diddy to Prince Harry and Prince William, which apparently went unanswered.
Shifting gears, Jost turned his attention to Daniel Day-Lewis’s much-anticipated return to acting after a seven-year hiatus. In a surprising twist, Jost joked, “And you won’t believe it. It’s ‘Shrek 6.’” In reality, Day-Lewis will be starring in his son’s directorial debut film titled “Anemone.”
From mocking English actors to English businessmen, Che took a shot at billionaire Richard Branson’s latest endeavor – a free online university for people with dyslexia. Che playfully directed viewers to “ww.wDyslexiacom” with a mischievous smirk.
Comedian Nate Bargatze served as the host for this episode, with Coldplay taking the stage as the musical guest.
