Weekend Update Takes on Trump, Gaetz, and More

“Weekend Update” on “Saturday Night Live” didn’t hold back in its sharp commentary on President-elect Donald Trump and his associates, including RFK Jr., Elon Musk, and Matt Gaetz.

The show kicked off with a satirical take on the recent healthcare CEO killer story that has captivated the nation. Anchor Colin Jost joked about the debate over who would play the accused shooter, Luigi Mangione, in a Netflix miniseries, pointing out the irony of his actions leading up to the shooting.

Jost and his co-anchor Michael Che then took aim at Trump, with Jost quipping about Trump being named Time magazine’s Man of the Year and Che mocking Matt Gaetz’s new gig at One America Network, poking fun at his controversial past.

The duo also didn’t spare RFK Jr. for his stance on polio vaccine mandates or Elon Musk for his comments on abortion. The jokes kept coming, with Che delivering a hilarious line about Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson’s Broadway debut.

The segment featured comedy sketches from cast members Andrew Dismukes and Jane Wickline, with Dismukes riffing on a quirky court ruling from the U.K. and Wickline singing a playful song about internet rumors and pop stars.

From political satire to celebrity gossip, “Weekend Update” kept the laughs coming with its witty commentary on the week’s headlines.
