Is Meta Collaborating with Prada for AI Glasses?
Rumors are swirling that Meta could be gearing up to launch a Prada version of its Meta AI glasses after Mark Zuckerberg and his wife, Priscilla, were seen front and center at Prada’s Fall/Winter 2026 Fashion Week show in Milan. The couple was spotted engaging with Lorenzo Bertelli, Prada’s chief merchandising officer and son of head designer Miuccia Prada.
While Zuckerberg has been making efforts to enhance his public image, it is speculated that his presence at Prada was not solely for the fashion show but possibly hinting at a collaboration between Meta and the high-end fashion brand.
Last summer, CNBC reported that Prada AI glasses were in development, along with other similar projects. However, Meta has not officially confirmed any such partnership yet. (The company has not responded to inquiries regarding Zuckerberg’s attendance in Milan.)
EssilorLuxottica, the company behind Ray-Ban and Oakley, has been collaborating with Meta on high-tech glasses since the launch of Ray-Ban Stories. Recent reports indicate that over 7 million AI glasses were sold in 2025, including both Ray-Ban Meta and Oakley Meta models, with the latter catering to sporty individuals.
With the renewal of the licensing deal between Prada and EssilorLuxottica for eyewear under the Prada and Miu Miu brands for the next ten years, it hints at the possibility of Prada AI glasses entering the market. This move could position Meta in the luxury fashion segment, a space not yet explored by its Oakley and Ray-Ban offerings, potentially boosting Meta’s overall brand appeal.
However, concerns have been raised about the acceptance of AI glasses in a world increasingly wary of surveillance devices. Recent backlash against such technologies, leading to actions like removing Ring doorbells and destroying Flock cameras, might prompt Meta to rethink incorporating facial-recognition features in its glasses. This possibility was highlighted in a recent report by The New York Times. The negative feedback has even led to the development of an app that alerts users of nearby AI glasses wearers.
