South Metro Fire Rescue and Littleton Police Attend to Vegetation Fire on Mary Carter Greenway Trail

South Metro Fire Rescue and Littleton Police quickly responded to a vegetation fire on the Mary Carter Greenway Trail near Mineral Avenue and Santa Fe Drive on Monday evening. As of 7:45 p.m., it was still unclear if any structures were in danger.

The Mary Carter Greenway Trail, an 8-mile path along the South Platte River from Chatfield State Park to Englewood, was the site of the incident.

Earlier in the day, South Metro Fire Rescue dealt with several suspicious grass fires along the High Line Canal. One particular fire at 1181 S. Parker Road extended to a commercial building housing multiple businesses. All occupants were safely evacuated, and by 3 p.m., the fire was contained.

Further details regarding the fire have not been disclosed at this time.
