Upon discovering the mess of wet toilet paper strewn around the facility, council staff took to social media to deliver a sassy message to the culprits responsible for the “disgusting mess”.
“I hope that the next time you urgently need a public toilet, there won’t be a single piece of toilet paper left to clean yourself up,” read the post.
This incident was not the first time that the toilets had been targeted.
“Take a look at the appalling mess that the cleaner found at the Taramea Bay toilets in Riverton-Aparima this morning. This is the second time in as many weeks!” continued the post.
“It is incredibly disheartening to see the community’s newest facilities treated in such a manner by an individual lacking in common sense. Show some respect next time.”
Vandalism has been an ongoing issue at Southland District Council’s public toilets in Lumsden.
A council representative mentioned that they were not aware of any other facilities being targeted on this particular occasion.
Furthermore, they stated that they were unsure if the incident had been reported to the police, as vandals often operate under the cover of darkness, making it difficult to identify and apprehend them.
