The recent surge in artificial intelligence stocks encountered a challenge on Tuesday, jeopardizing the ongoing gains of the S&P 500.
As a result, the S&P 500 experienced a decline of 0.4% on Tuesday, which would interrupt its impressive seven-day winning streak. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell by 150 points, equivalent to 0.3%, while the Nasdaq Composite showed a 0.7% decrease.
Despite only 190 stocks within the S&P 500 experiencing losses, technology shares, particularly in the semiconductor sector, were significant contributors to the day’s downturn. The iShares Semiconductor ETF saw a decrease of 2%, whereas the Roundhill Magnificent Seven ETF fell by 0.8%.
