Authorities claim that a man carrying methamphetamine is accused of the cruel murder of a pregnant Maltese dog.
Eric Lyn Holliday allegedly tied a rope from his Ford Expedition to a parking bollard in an Anaheim alley on December 1, with the dog in the middle, and then accelerated, resulting in the dog’s neck being snapped by the force of the rope, as per the Orange County district attorney. It is unknown if Holliday was the owner of the dog.
Holliday reportedly fled the scene, leaving the dog fatally injured. The six-year-old dog passed away due to a severed spine and arteries. The dog was discovered by a nearby business owner hours after the incident.
District Attorney Todd Spitzer condemned the act, stating, âThere is a special place in hell for people who abuse animals. This was not an act of rage. This was a clear plan to kill a defenseless animal.â
Holliday, who was on probation for a prior assault with a metal pipe, was found in possession of multiple bags of amphetamines. He has been charged with felony animal cruelty and possession of a controlled substance with two or more convictions.
He could face a maximum of 13 years in prison for his actions.
