Suraj Aryal Set to Bring Spice Kitchen to Sunnyside

Suraj Aryal, a 38-year-old restaurateur, is gearing up to open the third location of his Indian and Nepali restaurant, Spice Kitchen, at 2915 W. 44th Ave. in Sunnyside later this summer. Aryal recently purchased the 5,700-square-foot building, previously home to the Sunnyside Supper Club, for $2 million. Despite the challenges posed by the current restaurant environment, Aryal remains optimistic about this new venture.

With existing locations in Thornton and Parker, Aryal has faced increasing pressure from interest rates, labor costs, and food prices. However, he sees these challenges as opportunities for growth and is excited to take on the new endeavor in Sunnyside.

The building was sold by Mighty Hospitality Group, a restaurant group known for operating popular eateries such as Lucky Pie Pizza and El Jefe. The previous occupants, Sunnyside Supper Club, closed last fall after facing foreclosure, leaving the property available for Aryal’s expansion plans.

Aryal’s success with Spice Kitchen is attributed to his commitment to quality, with all dishes made from scratch using organic ingredients. With his father’s recipes and years of experience in the industry, Aryal has built a strong foundation for his family-operated business.

Despite the challenges of the past year, Aryal remains confident in the potential of his new Sunnyside location. By keeping costs under control and focusing on his authentic culinary offerings, he is poised for success in the competitive restaurant scene.
