The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) has stirred the pot again with its latest “Year in Hate and Extremism” report, categorizing Turning Point USA (TPUSA), the largest grassroots conservative youth organization, as a “hate group.”
The SPLC has drawn a controversial parallel by placing Turning Point USA on its “hate map” alongside the Ku Klux Klan, claiming to expose groups that allegedly uphold white supremacy in the United States.
This recent addition marks the first time TPUSA has appeared on the SPLC’s hate map, which now also includes PragerU, a nonprofit dedicated to disseminating conservative viewpoints through digital media, categorizing both as “anti-government extremist groups.”
In response, TPUSA founder Charlie Kirk appeared on Laura Ingraham’s show, expressing his disbelief over the classification.
Laura Ingraham: They’ve labeled Turning Point as a hate group.
Charlie Kirk: Yes.
Laura Ingraham: Coming from a group like them, that’s rich.
Charlie Kirk: Honestly, I’m surprised it took them this long to add us to the list.
Laura Ingraham: What’s the hold-up, Charlie?
Charlie Kirk: They’re equating our high school chapters with the KKK and neo-Nazi groups. We can chuckle at this, but it’s serious. Remember the gunman who attacked the Family Research Council years ago? He was inspired by the SPLC’s list.
This is an attempt to coerce us into submission. Instead, our students will become even more engaged.
They refuse to engage in a meaningful debate about our ideas. Instead, they resort to the tired old tactic of labeling us as racists or haters. This shows they recognize the influence of Turning Point USA, which is why we’ve made their list.
Laura Ingraham: When you’re effective, you become a target.

Kirk took to X to elaborate further on his views.
The SPLC has placed Turning Point on their laughable “hate group” list, right next to the KKK and neo-Nazis, a cheap smear from an organization that has been duping fearful citizens for years. They somehow manage to pull in over $100 million annually selling their “hate map” nonsense while living large in their Montgomery “Poverty Palace.” Former employees have even labeled their operation a “con.”
Their strategy? Intimidate financial institutions into cutting us off, pressure educational institutions to cancel us, and vilify us to incite some unstable individual to target us. Recall the Family Research Council? An SPLC-inspired shooter targeted them. They would relish the chance to put TPUSA in the crosshairs.
But it’s 2025, and no one with a functioning brain buys their drivel anymore. The SPLC is a joke, a withered remnant of what once was, repeatedly exposed as a grift. They’re not just irrelevant—they’re a cautionary example of how to ruin your own credibility. Perhaps someone should scrutinize where all that “nonprofit” money is actually going?
Being on their list is a badge of honor. It signifies that they’re scared of our effectiveness. Keep whining, SPLC—America is over your scam.
The SPLC has added Turning Point to their ridiculous “hate group” list, right next to the KKK and neo-Nazis, a cheap smear from a washed-up org that’s been fleecing scared grandmas for decades. They somehow still rake in over $100 million a year peddling their “hate map”…
