Fox is gearing up for a seismic event with the development of a new sitcom based on the life of stand-up comedian Earthquake. According to Variety, the broadcast network has partnered with Earthquake, whose real name is Nathaniel Stroman, to create a half-hour comedy series.
The project, which has received a script commitment from Fox, will see Earthquake playing a fictionalized version of himself. The multi-cam sitcom is currently in the early stages of development, with no writer attached yet.
Earthquake will not only star in the show but also serve as an executive producer alongside his manager, Jermaine Smith. Additionally, Bill Burr and Mike Bertolina will executive produce through their production company North Hill Productions, while Dave Becky will executive produce for 3 Arts Entertainment. Fox Entertainment Studios will produce the show, which will be distributed by FOX Entertainment Global.
With nearly 30 years in the comedy industry, Earthquake has released several comedy specials and made numerous television appearances. His credits include shows like BET’s “Comic View,” HBO’s “Def Comedy Jam,” and “Shaq’s All-Star Comedy Jam.” As an actor, he has been featured on series such as “Everybody Hates Chris,” “Rel,” “South Side,” and “The Neighborhood.” Currently, he hosts “Quake’s House” on Kevin Hart’s Laugh Out Loud Network on Sirius XM Channel 96 while maintaining a busy stand-up tour schedule.
Represented by WME and 3 Arts, Earthquake is a seasoned performer with a wealth of experience in the entertainment industry. Meanwhile, Burr and Bertolina’s North Hill Productions, established in 2024, has produced a variety of projects including Burr’s Hulu stand-up special “Drop Dead Years” and the film “Old Dads,” which Burr wrote, directed, and starred in. Other North Hill projects include “Drugstore June” featuring Esther Povitsky and the documentary “Patrice O’Neal: Killing is Easy.”
The collaboration between Fox, Earthquake, and the talented production team behind the scenes promises to deliver a fresh and entertaining sitcom that showcases Earthquake’s comedic prowess and unique perspective on life.
