There has been speculation surrounding the possibility of Dr. Wendy Osefo and her husband Eddie facing deportation, considering their Nigerian heritage and naturalized citizenship status. Despite no current ICE detainers against them, concerns have arisen about the potential consequences following a recent arrest.
A source revealed to a media outlet, “They have no ICE detainers against them as of now, and these days ICE is very proactive in beginning proceedings swiftly after an arrest.” While Wendy and Eddie are naturalized citizens, legal experts suggest that they could still be at risk of deportation.
Immigration attorney Judith Delus-Montgomery shared insights on the matter, stating that under normal circumstances, Wendy and Eddie’s case would not typically raise red flags. However, she emphasized the current political climate and administration’s stance on denaturalizing citizens for various reasons.
“This President [Donald Trump] and this administration have indicated that they are going to start denaturalizing citizens if they don’t like what they’re saying, if they don’t like their politics… if they can find a way to do it, they will do it,” Delus-Montgomery explained. She highlighted the potential vulnerability of individuals like Wendy and Eddie, who have been involved in political activities and have connections to prominent figures.
If the government were to scrutinize Wendy and Eddie’s citizenship applications and uncover any irregularities, there is a possibility that they could lose their citizenship and be subject to deportation. The uncertainty surrounding their legal status has raised concerns within their community and among fans of the reality TV star.
