During a recent speech, Trump mispronounced Kentucky as “Keen-tucky,” which caught the attention of late-night host Colbert. Colbert humorously pointed out that the correct pronunciation is even found on every chicken bucket in the state.
However, it was Trump’s explanation for his actions towards Iran that really stood out to Colbert. Trump stated that he was protecting the country from future incompetent presidents, which some critics interpreted as a veiled reference to himself.
“We’re not gonna count on having competent presidents,” Trump remarked. “We have to assume we’re gonna have incompetent ones.”
Colbert, amused by Trump’s self-awareness, jokingly imitated Trump and emphasized the possibility of having the “dumbest man alive” as president in the future.
