Attention “Stranger Things” enthusiasts: The first two episodes of the animated series “Stranger Things: Tales From ‘85” will debut in select cinemas on April 18. Tickets become available on Wednesday at 8 a.m. PT.
In collaboration with AMC Theatres, these screenings will occur in 34 theaters nationwide at 12 p.m. and 3 p.m. local time. Additional showings will take place at the Paris Theater in New York and Netflix House in Philadelphia. U.S. attendees can also obtain an exclusive collectible, while supplies last.
This isn’t Netflix’s first venture into theatrical releases. On March 10, the first two episodes of “One Piece” Season 2 were shown in cinemas, and last December saw the “Stranger Things” series finale hit the big screen.
From the creative mind of showrunner Eric Robles and executive producers the Duffer Brothers, this animated spinoff will become available worldwide on Netflix on April 23.
According to the official description, “In the winter of 1985, snow covers the town and the horrors of the Upside Down are finally subsiding. Our heroes Eleven, Mike, Will, Dustin, Lucas, and Max have returned to a peaceful life filled with D&D, snowball fights, and quiet days. But beneath the ice, something terrifying has emerged. Is it from the Upside Down? From Hawkins Lab? Or from another unknown source? Our heroes must quickly unravel this mystery and save Hawkins in this new adventure set in the ‘Stranger Things’ universe.”
The voice cast features Jeremy Jordan as Steve Harrington, Brooklyn Davey Norstedt as Eleven, Jolie Hoang-Rappaport as Max, Luca Diaz as Mike, Elisha “EJ” Williams as Lucas, Braxton Quinney as Dustin, Benjamin Plessala as Will, and Brett Gipson as Hopper.
Producing alongside Eric Robles are the Duffer Brothers, Hilary Leavitt through Upside Down Pictures, Shawn Levy through 21 Laps, and Dan Cohen.
