Speculation Arises About Cut Scenes in Latest Season of Stranger Things
Following the release of the most recent episodes of Stranger Things, there has been speculation among fans that important scenes may have been left on the cutting room floor before season 5 debuted on Netflix.
Randy Havens, who portrays the character Mr. Clarke on the show, took to Instagram on December 29 to address the rumors circulating online. In his post, he dismissed the idea of a secret “Snyder cut” of the series, referencing director Zack Snyder’s extended version of Justice League that was released in response to fan demand.
Similar to the Snyder Cut controversy, some viewers of Stranger Things have expressed disappointment with how certain storylines have been handled in the latest season. Created by the Duffer Brothers, the show is set in a fictional town where supernatural events unfold, leading to mystery and chaos.
The series, which first gained popularity in 2016, has faced criticism for long breaks between seasons and a perceived lack of focus on its original characters leading up to the series finale.
According to the Duffer Brothers, the decision to split season 4 into two parts was made as the season grew too extensive to be released in a single batch. With Episode 7 serving as a significant turning point, the creators felt it was best to divide the season into two volumes for storytelling purposes.
Addressing concerns about character deaths in the final battle against Vecna, Matt and Ross assured fans that the show would not follow in the footsteps of other series known for major character casualties.
The series finale of Stranger Things is set to premiere on Netflix on December 31.
