Designer Daniella Kallmeyer was beaming with joy as she stood inside her brand new boutique on Madison Avenue, which now serves as the flagship store for her brand in the Upper East Side. The space, a collaboration with designer Louis Rambert, is a stunning mix of French modernism and American Art Deco, with personal touches like vintage recommendation letters for Kallmeyer’s grandmother, a former dressmaker.
The grand opening celebration was a glamorous affair, with French 75s and Aperol Spritzes flowing from a cocktail cart outside, welcoming guests to the brand’s “uptown chapter.” The party later moved to Club Kallmeyer at the Three Guys Diner, where guests from the fashion, film, and art worlds gathered to celebrate the brand’s thirteenth year in business.
Among the attendees were Chloe Fineman, Busy Philipps, Tommy Dorfman, Louisa Jacobson, Grace Gummer, and Norma Kamali, all dressed in their favorite Kallmeyer pieces. Jacobson shared, “Everything I’ve ever put on from the brand looks good—and I feel like myself.” Janicza Bravo added, “Dani inherently knows who her woman is.”
The evening was filled with special touches, from a menu of diner classics served on silver trays to bespoke Café Kallmeyer hats worn by staff. The all-female dream team behind the event, including event producers Souvenir Shop and DJ Rae Sada, ensured that the atmosphere was lively and fun, with a mix of pop and dance tracks playing throughout the night.
A highlight of the evening was a surprise birthday cake for Rambert, which Kallmeyer described as a tribute to his patience, chic style, and perfect references. The night ended with dancing under warm café lights, enjoying scoops of banana Nutella or stracciatella ice cream, and soaking in the early summer air.
Overall, the event was a true reflection of what Kallmeyer’s designs stand for—sharp yet soulful, sophisticated with a touch of whimsy. It was a celebration of the brand’s success and a promising start to its “uptown chapter” in the heart of the Upper East Side.
