Jakob Nowell of Sublime recently opened up about a heartbreaking experience he had to endure before a recent concert. The lead singer shared with his fans that he had to say goodbye to his beloved cat.
As the son of the late Bradley Nowell, the original lead singer of the band who tragically passed away in 1996, Jakob took the stage at the “Vans Warped Tour – Long Beach” and shared the news of having to put down his cat, Creature.
During the concert, Jakob expressed his deep bond with Creature, referring to the cat as his “best friend.” He confessed that he almost didn’t go on stage that night, but felt compelled to share his music with the audience as a source of comfort for them and himself.
In a touching moment, Nowell mentioned the healing power of music and how playing alongside his late father’s friends was helping him cope with the loss of Creature.
Sublime, originally disbanded after Bradley’s passing, reunited in 2023 with Jakob taking the lead. Their recent single “Ensenada” has been well-received by fans, marking a new chapter for the band.
As Sublime fans mourn the loss of Creature, they find solace in the music that continues to resonate with them. Rest in peace, Creature – your memory lives on in the hearts of many.
