Grant Horvat has made a bold decision by declining an invitation to participate in the Barracuda Championship on the PGA Tour. The reason behind his withdrawal stems from the tour’s strict rules and regulations regarding filming during tournaments. This move has garnered support from none other than Wesley Bryan, a suspended PGA Tour player who understands the challenges faced by content creators in the world of professional golf.

Wesley Bryan, who is currently serving a suspension from the PGA Tour due to his participation in the LIV Golf event, The Duels: Miami, earlier this season, has expressed his disappointment in the PGA Tour’s decision to restrict Horvat from filming at the Barracuda Championship. Bryan, who is eager to make a comeback to the tour, clarified that the event he took part in was a creator event rather than a traditional LIV golf tournament.

The Barracuda Championship is scheduled to take place at the Old Greenwood in Truckee, California, from July 17-20, coinciding with the final major of the season, The Open Championship. The tournament boasts a purse of $4 million, with the winner set to pocket $720,000. Additionally, the champion will earn 300 FedExCup points, 4,250 DP World Tour points, and 24.2 OWGR points.

Despite declining the invitation, Grant Horvat expressed his gratitude for being invited to such a prestigious tournament. Meanwhile, the PGA Tour has faced backlash from fans over Wesley Bryan’s suspension, with many supporters rallying behind Bryan’s claim that he participated in The Duels Miami for content creation purposes.

Bryan’s suspension, which was imposed in April, is indefinite and immediate. However, Bryan is currently appealing the decision while thanking his fans for their unwavering support during this challenging time. The LIV Duels event, which Bryan participated in, featured a nine-hole exhibition that paired influencers with LIV pros.

In conclusion, the actions of Grant Horvat and the support shown by Wesley Bryan shed light on the evolving landscape of professional golf and the challenges faced by content creators within the sport. As the PGA Tour navigates these issues, it is clear that the intersection of golf and media will continue to play a significant role in shaping the future of the sport.
