Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes has issued a 48-hour ultimatum to Speaker Mike Johnson to officially swear in Rep.-Elect Adelita Grijalva. This demand follows the state’s certification of her election victory earlier this week.

In a striking assertion, Hakeem Jeffries cautioned Johnson of impending legal action, stating:
All options remain on the table regarding Representative-elect Adelita Grijalva. It is disgraceful that she has yet to be sworn in because Speaker Johnson and House Republicans seem intent on withholding the Jeffrey Epstein files from the public eye.
This situation has persisted for weeks; therefore, it is my expectation that if she is not sworn in today during the pro forma session, as clearly indicated by the Arizona Attorney General, prepare for immediate and forceful legal measures.
In response, Johnson addressed reporters:
I expected more from Hakeem in terms of legal prowess. This is merely a publicity stunt by a Democrat Attorney General in Arizona who seeks to capitalize on the national narrative and draw my ire.
