Taylor Swift proudly stands as the ultimate supporter of her fiancé Travis Kelce.
During her recent appearance on U.K.’s Hits Radio on October 3, where she was promoting her latest album, The Life of a Showgirl, Swift, 35, expressed her admiration for Kelce while discussing her song “Wish List.”
The lyrics of this song reflect her longing for love and family with Kelce, 35, away from the public eye.
Hosts of Hits Radio, Fleur East, brought up the song’s lyrics, asking Swift, “I love the line where you’re like, ‘just give me a best friend who’s hot.’ Do you believe you’ve found that?”
Swift enthusiastically affirmed that she certainly had found that, showcasing her engagement ring. (She and Kelce made their engagement public in August after two years of dating.)
“100 percent,” she responded. “Look what I got!”
She added, “You would totally love him. He’s a joy. He’s the life of every gathering, even in our private moments. Finding a best friend who you think is attractive? That’s the goal, right?”
In “Wish List,” Swift shares her dreams for her future with Kelce.
In her lyrics, she sings, “I just want you / Have a couple kids, got the whole block lookin’ like you / We tell the world to leave us the f**k alone … and they do / Wow / Got me dreamin’ ’bout a driveway with a basketball hoop / Boss up, settle down, got a wishlist / I just want you.”
While promoting her twelfth studio album, Swift highlighted “Wish List” as one of her standout tracks from The Life of a Showgirl during a chat with the U.K.’s HeartRadio last Friday.
“This song was a turning point for us; after we wrapped it, I thought, ‘That’s it. We’ve done it. This is the final touch.’ It’s a profoundly dreamy and romantic song that encapsulates various aspirations people hold dear in their lives,” Swift said. “It illustrates the wishes many make across the globe.”
She provided more insights about the song in an album feature shared through Apple Music.
“It’s definitely one of my favorite tracks on the album,” she revealed. “It’s incredibly romantic and features vibrant imagery that explores the different lives people dream of, simultaneously embracing individuality in how one chooses to live.”
Swift and Kelce announced their engagement with a joint Instagram post on August 26, humorously captioning a series of photos of Kelce proposing with, “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are tying the knot.”
The couple started publicly dating in September 2023, with Swift attending a Kansas City Chiefs game to support Kelce. The “Bad Blood” singer was often seen in the stands cheering him on, while Kelce made the effort to travel globally to watch her perform, beginning with a trip to Argentina in November 2023.
