Blake Lively expressed her support for Taylor Swift’s latest album, The Life of a Showgirl, during her ongoing legal challenges with Justin Baldoni.

Lively shared her appreciation via Instagram by “liking” Swift’s post celebrating the album’s launch, which was released on Friday, October 3.

In a poetic caption accompanying pictures from the album, Swift wrote, “Tonight all these lives converge here / The mosaics of laughter and cocktails of tears. / Where fraternal souls sing identical things / And it’s beautiful / It’s rapturous / It is frightening.”

She also shared her elation regarding the album’s completion and offered thanks to her collaborators, Max Martin and Shellback.

Taylor Swift Has Heard Radio Silence From Blake Lively After Legal Drama

“I can’t express how thrilled I am to unveil this album, which truly resonates with me. A profound thank you to my mentors and friends Max and Shellback for aiding me in crafting this self-portrait,” she added. “If you thought the grand performance was captivating, perhaps you should peek behind the curtains… The Life of a Showgirl is available now.”

Swift and Lively share a longstanding friendship, although it has seen challenges lately due to Lively’s legal issues with Baldoni.

The situation between Lively and Baldoni escalated in December 2024 when she accused her It Ends With Us co-star and director of sexual harassment and purportedly orchestrating a smear campaign against her. Baldoni has vigorously denied the charges and has counter-sued Lively.

A judge dismissed Baldoni’s countersuit in June, but Lively’s case continues and is slated for a March 2026 hearing.

Swift—whose song “My Tears Ricochet” is featured in the film—was drawn into the legal fight after Baldoni’s team issued her a subpoena. Swift has denied any connection to the production.

“Taylor Swift never stepped foot on the set of this film, was not involved in any casting or creative decisions, did not score the film, and did not see an edit or give feedback on it,” Swift’s representative stated in a May comment to Us Weekly. “She didn’t even view It Ends With Us until weeks after its public premiere, and was on a global tour throughout 2023 and 2024.”

By the end of that month, Baldoni’s team rescinded their subpoenas for Swift, a victory that Lively celebrated.

“We’re delighted that Justin Baldoni and the Wayfarer Parties have retracted their aggressive subpoenas directed towards Taylor Swift and her legal team,” Lively’s representatives said in a statement. “We endorsed Taylor’s efforts to quash these inappropriate subpoenas aimed at her counsel and will continue to support anyone who is unjustly antagonized or threatened during this process.”

Following Lively’s legal success, sources revealed to Us that Swift and Lively’s friendship remains strained.

“Although this is good news for Blake, she hasn’t rejuvenated her friendship with Taylor as of yet,” the insider disclosed. “Taylor hasn’t reached out to Blake and is still reluctant to discuss anything related to the lawsuit.”

Blake Lively Attempts to Block Justin Baldoni From Requesting Taylor Swift Texts

Nearly four months later, Swift was again summoned into the case for a deposition with Baldoni’s legal representation. In a September correspondence with the judge, Baldoni’s lawyers claimed that Swift agreed to participate in a deposition in October. However, Swift’s attorney pushed back, stating that she had not “agreed to” but felt “compelled to.” The court later denied Baldoni’s request for an extension to take Swift’s deposition.

With the release of Showgirl, fans speculated that the song “Cancelled!” might reference Lively.

“They believed I was innocent / So I’m not here for judgement / But if you can’t be good then just be better at it / Everyone’s got bodies in the attic / Or took somebody’s man / Will take you by the hand / And soon you’ll learn the art of never getting caught,” Swift sings.

Conversely, some have proposed that the track could relate to Swift’s new friend and fellow WAG Brittany Mahomes, whom she got close to after starting a relationship with now-fiancé Travis Kelce.
