Team India spinner Kuldeep Yadav’s absence from the remainder of the ongoing T20I series against Australia has been confirmed, as he has been included in the India ‘A’ squad for the second unofficial Test against South Africa ‘A’ in Bengaluru. After featuring in the second T20I against Australia in Melbourne, Kuldeep was dropped for the third match in Hobart.
The decision to release Kuldeep Yadav from the T20I side was made to provide him with red-ball game time in preparation for the upcoming Test series against South Africa. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) released a statement regarding this move, stating that the Indian team management requested Kuldeep’s release to allow him to participate in the India ‘A’ series against South Africa ‘A’ at the BCCI COE.
India ‘A’ will face South Africa ‘A’ in the second match starting from November 6, coinciding with the fourth T20I against Australia. The updated squad for the remaining T20Is includes players like Suryakumar Yadav, Abhishek Sharma, Shubman Gill, and Jasprit Bumrah.
On the other hand, India ‘A’ squad for the second four-day game comprises players like Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul, and Mohammed Siraj. In the series opener against South Africa ‘A’, India ‘A’ secured a thrilling three-wicket victory after chasing down 277 in the fourth innings. Skipper Rishabh Pant played a crucial role with a stellar 90, supported by contributions from Tanush Kotian and Manav Suthar.
Kuldeep Yadav made a significant impact during India’s last home Test series win against the West Indies, picking up 12 wickets in two games at an average of 19.50. He was the leading wicket-taker of the series and was named the player of the match in the second Test at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
Overall, Kuldeep’s inclusion in the India ‘A’ squad for the upcoming Test series against South Africa highlights the importance of providing him with valuable red-ball game time in preparation for the challenges ahead. With the Test series on the horizon, Kuldeep Yadav’s participation in the India ‘A’ setup will be crucial for his development and readiness for the upcoming Test matches.
