Teddi Mellencamp has shared an encouraging health update with her followers.
“Just to keep you updated, I had my immunotherapy yesterday and they conducted my scans,” Mellencamp, who is 44, stated in the October 3 episode of iHeartRadio’s “Two Ts in a Pod” podcast. “As of now, there’s no detectable cancer.”
She noted that, despite the positive news, she will need to continue her immunotherapy for another year.
“I’m not considered in remission or anything like that,” she remarked. “When I heard the news, I was completely in shock. I felt numb.”
Fans of the former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills personality have been following her cancer journey since October 2022, when she announced her diagnosis of stage II melanoma. In February of this year, she disclosed that her condition had progressed to stage IV melanoma and had metastasized to her lungs and brain.
Mellencamp underwent brain surgery to eliminate several tumors in February. In March, doctors identified additional tumors, informing her that she had a 50/50 chance of survival with immunotherapy treatment.
“The doctor explained that the statistics are based on how long immunotherapy has been available,” Mellencamp shared during an April appearance on Nightline. “That’s when I began to look for the silver lining.”
While Mellencamp described her latest health update as “huge news” on the podcast, she remains aware of the battle ahead.
“I will still have days where I don’t feel well because I’m undergoing immunotherapy. It’s a continuing struggle,” she noted. “According to my doctors, this process involves a year of treatment, and only after two years can you begin to be considered for remission after three years.”
Mellencamp shared that doctors told her that “all the tumors continued to shrink,” which she described as “great” news.
Her estranged husband, Edwin Arroyave, has been a constant support throughout her health journey, despite their ongoing separation.
The pair, who co-parent their son Cruz, 10, along with daughters Slate, 12, and Dove, 5, separated in October 2024, with Mellencamp officially filing for divorce the following month, citing “irreconcilable differences.”
“After careful consideration, I’ve made the hard choice to file for divorce,” Mellencamp shared on Instagram in November 2024. “My main focus is ensuring my children’s well-being and privacy throughout this transition.”
Both Mellencamp and Arroyave have been open about how they continue to cohabit despite their separation.
“We’re still great friends, and I am committed to taking care of her, ensuring she has the support she needs during this time,” Arroyave mentioned during an August edition of The Eds podcast. “Even though we are separated and in the process of divorcing, we maintain our friendship. I still view her as my friend.”
He added that there are no confrontations while living together, and this is the best they’ve got along in some time, highlighting the positive atmosphere in their home.
