A disturbing incident in Memphis, Tennessee, has led to the arrest of a man accused of raping and kidnapping a 13-year-old girl he met on Snapchat on Christmas Eve 2025. Breon Collins, 32, was taken into custody on January 14 and faces charges of especially aggravated kidnapping, aggravated rape, evading arrest in an automobile, and evading arrest.
The Memphis Police Department responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle in East Memphis on December 24, 2025. Officers discovered Collins and the girl unclothed in a car on North Fernway Road. Despite having an outstanding warrant, Collins drove off with the girl when ordered to exit the vehicle by police.
The girl later revealed that she had been communicating with someone she thought was a teenager on Snapchat. It is believed that Collins used the app’s location feature to track her down. When he arrived at her home, he coerced her into his car at gunpoint and threatened her with a knife.
Fortunately, investigators were able to locate the girl and she positively identified Collins. He was apprehended at the Bartlett Justice Center and attempted to flee during a transfer back to jail.
Collins is currently held at Shelby County Jail on a $200,000 bond. It is unclear if he has entered a plea or hired legal representation. In response to this incident, the Memphis Police Department is reminding parents to monitor their children’s online activities closely. Predators often exploit social media platforms to target minors, so it is crucial for parents to be aware of the apps their children use, have open conversations about online safety, and consider implementing parental controls on electronic devices.
