A tragic incident unfolded near Tennessee State University (TSU) in Nashville on Saturday evening, as a suspect opened fire, resulting in the death of one person and multiple injuries. The shooting occurred just before a homecoming football game was set to begin at around 5:10 p.m., with TSU facing off against Eastern Illinois University at Nissan Stadium.
The Metropolitan Nashville Police Department (MNPD) confirmed the fatality and reported that there were a total of 10 victims. According to MNPD Public Information Officer Brooke Reese, five of the victims were transported to local hospitals by the Nashville Fire Department, while the remaining five arrived in private vehicles. Among the injured were three juveniles, who were taken to a nearby children’s hospital for treatment.
It was also noted that at least one of the injured individuals was believed to have been involved in the shooting. The scene was quickly secured by law enforcement, and the victims were swiftly transported to area hospitals for medical attention.
