The border may be touted as “sealed,” with claims of a 99 percent reduction in crossings. Yet, the echoes of the past linger, as the previous administration’s policy of allowing millions of undocumented immigrants into the country continues to reverberate through our communities.
Recently, the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) engaged in a thrilling pursuit of an illegal alien smuggler in Hudspeth County, located in West Texas. The chase reached high speeds until DPS troopers deployed a tire deflation device, causing the smuggler to lose control and crash into a canal. While the driver made a hasty escape, 19 undocumented migrants fled from the truck. Fortunately, DPS, in collaboration with the Border Patrol, successfully apprehended this group.

Operation Lone Star, initiated in 2021 by Republican Governor Greg Abbott, aims to combat the influx of deadly drugs such as fentanyl while simultaneously attempting to curb illegal immigration efforts with the backing of Texas DPS and the Texas National Guard.
Moreover, Article IV, Section 4 of the United States Constitution clearly outlines the federal government’s obligation to safeguard states against invasion.
“The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against Invasion; and on Application of the Legislature, or of the Executive (when the Legislature cannot be convened) against domestic Violence.” Article IV, Section 4 of the United States Constitution.
It seems that, at least in principle, the rule of law is making a comeback.
