Houston Police Search for Man Who Crashed Car Into Ditch at 100 MPH and Fled Scene
Houston Police Department is currently on the lookout for a man who was involved in a high-speed crash and subsequently fled the scene, leaving his injured family behind.
According to reports from local outlets, the man was driving with his wife and four children in an SUV when the vehicle collided with a pickup truck, resulting in a dramatic crash.
Surveillance footage captured the man’s Ford Expedition speeding down Yale Street when a Chevy Avalanche truck suddenly turned in front of the Expedition, causing a collision that sent the SUV flipping into a nearby ditch.
Investigators estimate that the SUV was traveling at around 100 miles per hour at the time of the accident.
One of the children, an 8-year-old, was ejected from the vehicle during the crash, as reported by FOX 26. The other children appeared to be toddlers.
While the occupants of the pickup truck emerged unscathed, the driver’s family in the SUV was not as fortunate. They were rushed to the hospital, with two individuals in serious condition and three in critical condition.
Following the crash, the driver of the Expedition fled the scene and was reportedly picked up by another vehicle.
Captain Ryan Watson expressed bewilderment at the driver’s actions, stating, “I have no idea what’s going through his mind at the time. I don’t know if there was some other reason that he felt he needed to flee.” Watson further added, “The investigators here are following down leads and they are going to track that down and see if they can talk to him and get some answers, find out what’s going on.”
Authorities are actively searching for the driver of the Expedition as the investigation into the crash continues.
