A Texas high school student teacher, Darian Christine Rogers, 22, has been charged with second-degree felony improper relationship between an educator and a student after admitting to having sex with a teen boy she taught. Rogers, who had been working at Rouse High School in Leander, a suburb north of Austin, since January this year, initially met the boy at a grocery store where they both worked.
The illicit relationship came to light when a student reported to authorities in April that a teacher was involved in a sexual relationship with a minor. The student provided a voicemail from Rogers where she admitted to sending explicit photos to a 17-year-old male. Despite initially denying the relationship, the victim eventually confirmed the affair when confronted with messages found on his phone discussing the Plan B contraceptive pill.
During her police interview, Rogers described her relationship with the student as that of a âbig sister and little brother.â However, she later confessed to having sex with the student “one time” in his truck in a parking lot near their workplace. Detectives also found evidence on her phone, including a video of her taking the Plan B pill and a screenshot of the receipt.
Furthermore, Rogers confessed to another illicit relationship with a different 17-year-old student from the Leander Independent School District in a text thread with a friend. The school’s principal, Vincent Hawkins, sent a letter to families of students following Rogers’ arrest, stating that she was not a Leander ISD or Rouse High School employee and was immediately removed from campus once the district was made aware of the situation.
Rogers was booked into Williamson County Jail on Friday and released on a $20,000 bond the following day. She is scheduled to appear in court on June 4 for a pre-indictment docket call. The school assured families that the alleged misconduct did not occur on campus, during school hours, or at any school-sponsored event.
