Hyundai Motor Group has issued an open call for the 7th VH AWARD, a prestigious international award program designed to spotlight creators engaging with Asian contexts. The VH AWARD seeks submissions from individuals and collectives of Asian descent residing in Asia or part of the Asian diaspora. Interested participants can submit screen-based audiovisual art, such as video art, motion graphics, animation, games, films, or innovative areas.

Enhanced Opportunities for Artistic Growth

This iteration of the award includes larger production grants for all finalists. Additionally, a new Honorary Mention category has been introduced to recognize a wider array of voices, offering global visibility and selective access to an online residency.

In June 2027, an esteemed international jury will award one Grand Prix winner an additional $30,000.

An Online Residency Newly Developed with Ars Electronica

In collaboration with Ars Electronica, the VH AWARD’s online residency offers five finalists the chance to engage with a global network of curators, technologists, artists, and experts. Over six months, this program supports finalists in crafting new artistic works.

The residency features individual curatorial and technical guidance, peer interaction, and expert feedback. Artists in the Honorary Mention category will also have opportunities to participate in selected parts of the program.

Participants will benefit from exclusive masterclasses with Hito Steyerl and Daito Manabe, fostering direct conversations on contemporary media art practices. This extensive support helps finalists create pieces ready for exhibition.

Global Exhibition Platforms

In collaboration with prominent institutions, the finalists’ commissioned works will reach global audiences. Beginning in 2027, these projects will be displayed across major international venues, including HEK (Basel), the Ars Electronica Festival (Linz), Vision Hall (Yongin), and Singapore Art Week 2028.
