Canadian rock band The Beaches had the ultimate honor of opening for legendary rockers The Rolling Stones not once, but twice. The band members, Eliza Enman-McDaniel, Jordan Miller, Kylie Miller, and Leandra Earl, couldn’t believe their luck when they received the call offering them the opportunity. The shock of the experience still hasn’t worn off for them.

Their first performance with The Rolling Stones was on the No Filter Tour in Ontario in 2019. Five years later, they shared the stage with the iconic band once again on their Hackney Diamonds tour in Santa Clara, California. Despite their initial disbelief, The Beaches delivered stellar performances and were met with kindness from The Rolling Stones, making it an unforgettable experience for the band.

While backstage antics were fairly tame, with sightings of Keith Richards and his wife on a golf cart, the band members couldn’t resist trying to take home a unique souvenir. Earl confessed to attempting to steal a lazy Susan shaped like the iconic tongue logo of The Rolling Stones, but decided against it for fear of being kicked out.

The Beaches rose to fame after signing with Universal Records in 2016 and releasing their debut album, Late Show, in 2017. Their breakthrough came with the success of their single “Blame Brett” from their second album, Blame My Ex, which went viral on TikTok. The unexpected success of the song left the band members grappling with imposter syndrome, but they eventually embraced the impact it had on their career.

Following the release of Blame My Ex, The Beaches embarked on a tour, selling out venues and performing at festivals like Lollapalooza and ACL. Each show brought a new and enthusiastic audience, with fans singing along to both hits and deep cuts from the band’s discography.

The band’s newest single, “Jocelyn,” was released recently, signaling a new chapter for The Beaches. While they acknowledge the power of platforms like TikTok in promoting their music, they remain focused on authenticity and connecting with their fans through their music. As they continue to evolve and grow as a band, The Beaches are excited for what the future holds and are grateful for the opportunities that have come their way. The Importance of Mental Health Awareness

Mental health is a topic that often gets overlooked in discussions about overall well-being. However, it is just as important as physical health and should be treated with the same level of care and attention. Mental health includes our emotional, psychological, and social well-being, and it affects how we think, feel, and act. It also determines how we handle stress, relate to others, and make choices.

It is crucial to raise awareness about mental health and break the stigma surrounding it. Many individuals feel ashamed or embarrassed to seek help for their mental health struggles due to societal judgment and misconceptions. However, mental health issues are a common occurrence and should be treated just like any other health condition.

One in five adults in the United States experiences mental illness in a given year, according to the National Institute of Mental Health. This statistic highlights the prevalence of mental health issues and the importance of providing support and resources for those who are struggling. Without proper awareness and understanding, individuals may not seek the help they need, leading to further negative impacts on their mental health and overall well-being.

Mental health awareness also plays a crucial role in preventing suicide, which is the tenth leading cause of death in the United States. By promoting open discussions about mental health and encouraging individuals to seek help when needed, we can reduce the stigma surrounding mental illness and provide support for those who are struggling.

Furthermore, mental health awareness can help individuals recognize the signs and symptoms of mental health issues in themselves and others. By educating the public about the warning signs of mental illness, we can encourage early intervention and prevent the development of more serious mental health conditions.

In addition, mental health awareness can help promote self-care and stress management techniques that can improve overall well-being. By learning how to cope with stress and prioritize mental health, individuals can lead happier and more fulfilling lives.

Overall, mental health awareness is essential for promoting a healthy society and supporting individuals who are struggling with mental health issues. By breaking the stigma surrounding mental illness, providing resources and support, and promoting self-care and stress management, we can create a more compassionate and understanding community that values mental health just as much as physical health.
