After nearly 30 years as a beloved staple on Broadway in Denver, The Hornet restaurant is set to close its doors for the last time. The iconic eatery, located at 76 Broadway and opened in 1995, will be serving its final guests on Saturday, Aug. 9, as announced in a Facebook post.
Although details surrounding the closure remain unclear as a representative from The Hornet could not be reached for comment, it is noted that the restaurant’s building dynamics have shifted. Earlier this year, the property was purchased by an investment group named 76 N Broadway LLC, leading to The Hornet’s space being listed for lease in July.
Despite these changes, reports indicate that The Hornet had several years left on its lease with the possibility of an extension. The building also houses Lucky Noodles, another ground-floor restaurant that relocated from East Colfax Avenue in April.
In a heartfelt message shared on social media, The Hornet expressed gratitude for the neighborhood and the city of Denver for their unwavering support throughout the years. The restaurant’s vibrant blue facade made it a popular spot for weekend brunch gatherings and happy hour festivities in the lively entertainment district.
