Netflix has unveiled a behind-the-scenes featurette for the second season of âAvatar: The Last Airbender,â adapted from the beloved Nickelodeon cartoon. The featurette will be available on June 25.
Since its 2024 premiere, Netflix has extended the live-action series for an additional two seasons, ending with Season 3, mirroring the original show. Seasons 2 and 3 were produced consecutively, with Season 2 wrapping up in May 2025, followed by the commencement of production for the final season.
The cast features Gordon Cormier as Aang, Kiawentiio as Katara, Ian Ousley as Sokka, Dallas Liu as Prince Zuko, Paul Sun-Hyung Lee as Uncle Iroh, Elizabeth Yu as Princess Azula, and Daniel Dae Kim as Fire Lord Ozai. Season 2 will also introduce the blind earthbender Toph, portrayed by Maya Cech. The narrative follows Aang, an airbender who possesses the ability to control air, water, earth, and fire as the Avatar. After achieving mastery in waterbending in Season 1, Aang will focus on earthbending in Season 2, while trying to evade the malevolent Fire Nation and Prince Zuko.
Albert Kim, the series developer and showrunner for Season 1, stepped down in April. Christine Boylan and Jabbar Raisani will now lead the show as executive producers. Kim continues as an executive producer. Joining them are Dan Lin and Lindsey Liberatore, who executive produce for Rideback, alongside Michael Goi. Goi directed the first two episodes, while Raisani directed episodes three and four. Roseanne Liang was responsible for episodes five and six, with Jet Wilkinson directing the final two episodes of Season 1.
