The Last of Us Season 2 Wraps Up with 3.7 Million Viewers
After a successful run, “The Last of Us” Season 2 concluded on Sunday night, attracting a total of 3.7 million viewers across all platforms. This marked a slight decrease of 30% from the Season 2 premiere, which had garnered 5.3 million viewers in April. Despite this drop, Season 2 has been performing exceptionally well compared to its predecessor, with an average of 37 million viewers per episode so far, up from the 32 million average viewers reached by Season 1 after 90 days of viewing.
Leading the cast of “The Last of Us” are Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey, who have received acclaim for their performances. The show made a strong impact upon its release in January 2023, becoming the second-most watched HBO premiere in a decade. It also achieved the largest-ever increase between a series’ first and second episode, with a notable jump of 5.7 million viewers. The Season 1 finale reached a series high of 8.2 million viewers and amassed a total of 32 million viewers after 90 days of its release.
The storyline for Season 2 is described as follows: “Five years after the events of the first season, Joel and Ellie are drawn into conflict with each other and a world even more dangerous and unpredictable than the one they left behind.”
The show was brought to life by creators and writers Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann, with the latter being the mastermind behind the popular video game on which the show is based. The executive producers include Carolyn Strauss, Jacqueline Lesko, Cecil O’Connor, Asad Qizilbash, Carter Swan, and Evan Wells.
