The Political Tug-of-War Over Peace in Ukraine

Under the watchful eyes of Euro-Globalists like Keir Starmer from the UK and Emmanuel Macron from France, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky appears to be undermining any hope for a peaceful resolution to the ongoing conflict. His penchant for grandstanding and making unattainable demands has drawn both criticism and concern from various quarters, especially from the American administration.

In what could be a miscalculation, Zelensky’s recent provocations might have pushed the Trump administration too far, potentially jeopardizing U.S. involvement in negotiations. Such a withdrawal could hasten the deterioration of Ukraine’s military capabilities, which are already under severe strain in what many perceive as a losing battle.

Trump took to Truth Social to vent his frustrations regarding Zelensky’s actions, which he deemed counterproductive to the peace efforts.

“Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, is boasting on the front page of The Wall Street Journal that, ‘Ukraine will not legally recognize the occupation of Crimea. There’s nothing to talk about here’.

This statement is detrimental to the peace negotiations with Russia. Crimea was effectively lost years ago under President Barack Obama, and it isn’t even on the negotiation table. Nobody expects Zelenskyy to recognize Crimea as Russian, but one must wonder why there was no resistance when it was handed over to Russia without a fight eleven years ago. This region has significant military importance, housing Russian submarine bases long before the so-called ‘Obama handover’.

Zelenskyy’s inflammatory rhetoric complicates efforts to end this conflict. The situation for Ukraine is precarious—he faces a choice between pursuing peace or prolonging the war for another three years, risking total loss. While I have no ties to Russia, I am deeply concerned about the loss of thousands of soldiers on both sides each week, which is utterly senseless.

His recent comments will likely only serve to extend the “killing field,” which is a scenario no one desires. We are on the brink of a potential deal, but it’s time for someone with ‘no cards to play’ to finally step up and make it happen. I am eager to assist Ukraine and Russia in escaping this disastrous situation that would likely never have escalated had I been in the presidency!”

WH Spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt.

White House spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt elaborated on Trump’s sentiments, accusing Zelensky of ‘litigating the negotiations in the press’:

“To forge a successful agreement, both parties must leave the table a little dissatisfied. Unfortunately, President Zelensky has been attempting to manage this peace negotiation through public commentary, which is unacceptable to the president.

These negotiations should be held behind closed doors. The president’s national security team has invested significant time and resources to bring this war to a close. The American taxpayer has contributed billions to this effort, and we’ve reached a point of saturation.

The president is increasingly frustrated. His patience is wearing thin, and he genuinely desires to see peace, to halt the violence. However, achieving this requires cooperation from both sides.

Regrettably, President Zelensky seems to be heading in the wrong direction. Regarding European contributions to Ukraine, the president believes they must do more, whether through military support for Ukraine or meeting NATO defense spending benchmarks. He has been consistent in communicating this privately and publicly.”

Former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev called Zelensky ‘the typhoid louse of Kiev’ in an ‘narcotic oblivion’.

Adding fuel to the fire, former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, now Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of Russia, launched a scathing attack on Zelensky:

Trump: Kiev’s refusal to recognize Crimea as Russian harms negotiations to resolve the conflict.
We’ve been waiting! I hope different European freaks like Starmer and Macron will hear this. And then the typhoid louse of Kiev, who is in narcotic oblivion, will be brought to life.

Former Zelensky top aide, Arestovych: ‘in six months or a year Ukraine will give Russia 6 or 8 regions’.

Speaking candidly, Oleksiy Arestovych, a former aide to Zelensky, outlined why conceding four regions now may be the wiser choice:

“Why should we give up four regions? For one simple reason: in six months or a year, we might end up conceding six or eight. If that’s not a compelling reason, I don’t know what is. Today, conceding four serves as a form of payment for past mistakes over the last three years. It’s a necessary acknowledgment of our missteps, a recognition that we are cutting off certain territories.”

How do we reclaim them? De facto. It’s clear that legally no one will restore them. This is a chance to reset our strategy. We could transform Ukraine into a better version of itself and rethink our economic management. The rhetoric of ‘we will fight to the last patriot, we will not give up the Russian-speaking regions’—yet, why were we suppressing these regions?”

MP Gorchenko also opened fire on Zelensky.

Ukrainian MP Oleksiy Goncharenko joined the chorus of criticism directed at Zelensky, openly expressing his discontent with the current situation:

Slavyangrad reported:

“According to all my contacts, the prevailing question is: why is Zelensky making public comments? Couldn’t he just keep quiet for a while?”

He views the U.S. proposals for a deal with Russia as reasonable and urges a realistic perspective, admitting that without U.S. support, the situation will only worsen.

‘Unfortunately, we cannot reclaim our territories without U.S. assistance at this time, so why attempt to do so without their help? We need peace. We must freeze the conflict. Stop the violence.’”
